Our Approach to Carpet Cleaning

Step 1: Pre-Clean Inspection

Ideally, you would be available for completing a Pre-Clean Inspection or Heritage Floor Care Site Survey with us to discuss your site-specific priorities, e.g. accessibility to the work site, problem stains, high traffic areas, required drying times, security, low occupancy times.

If you can’t be onsite we are happy to complete an inspection for you by
ourselves and forward you a detailed online quote afterwards. All work is priced case by case as there are multiple factors involved in the pricing of each job.

Step 2: Intensive Detail Vacuuming

This is the cornerstone of our high quality Carpet Cleaning Service, both in commercial and residential settings. The majority of the soiling in most carpets is dry soiling, which can be most effectively removed using detailed thorough vacuuming.

Vacuuming makes the biggest contribution to improving the Indoor Air Quality of a property. You can read more about this on our Sustainability & IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) page.

We use high power vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters to clean the air, while at the same time removing dust and debris prior to the wet processes. Our vacuum cleaners are bagless, thus reducing consumable waste. We have freshly cleaned Vacuum filters and HEPA Filters for each jobsite.

As the majority of the dust in a property accumulates under beds or behind stationary items of furniture, we recommend moving and repositioning your furniture.

It’s not always necessary to move items if the logistics of the room are too complicated. However, if the rooms are clear of items, we can vacuum underneath or behind them. We will discuss this during the Pre-Clean Inspection.

Step 3: Eco-Friendly Cleaning Solutions

After the dry soiling during the Intensive Detail Vacuuming, the majority of the remaining soiling is oily or gummy in nature. It requires a surfactant to be pre-sprayed onto the carpet in order to break down the soiling and release it from the carpet fibres. Subsequently, it is dissolved into a state of liquid suspension and ready to be rinsed and extracted from the carpet.

We try to source local UK products with ingredients that have a low carbon footprint as well as low toxicity to the environment and the beings that live in it – ourselves included.

Step 4: Extraction and Rinsing

Following the pre-spray of the carpet with the selected Eco-Friendly Cleaning Solution, we allow a short period of dwell time so the chemicals can work and dissolve the soiling into liquid.

We then use our machinery to either rinse and extract, absorb or encapsulate the soiling to remove it from the carpet. We offer:

  • Hot Water Extraction Carpet Cleaning
  • Dry-Fusion, Rotary Absorbent Pad Carpet Cleaning
  • Very Low Moisture (VLM) Encapsulation Carpet Cleaning

For further information on any of these systems, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Step 5: Stain Removal

In case any stubborn stains remain after Extraction and Rinsing, we will treat them individually and then re-clean the area. This process can take a long time depending on the type and number of stains in situ. We carry an extensive range of spot cleaning chemicals and may apply steam and dry heat in order to accelerate the process if necessary.

Some products are designed to continue working over several hours. We will discuss the realistic expectations of success for complete or partial removal of each stain on the Pre-Clean Inspection with you.

Step 6: Deodorising & Pet Stains

If needed, we will treat any remaining odour with stain specific odour neutralising products.

Odour issues in carpets can often be the result of soiled underlay. It should usually be replaced, in case pet soiling has soaked through the carpets and been absorbed into timber or concrete. This can cause more serious issues requiring more than just cleaning: Usually the carpet needs to be lifted up in order to treat the affected surfaces underneath.

Step 7: Surface Protection

After the cleaning and stain treatment process, we will install protection pads under furniture legs where necessary to prevent rust spots and staining from e.g. wood.

Surface Protection also involves the application of Stain Guarding products as an additional protection from e.g. heavy foot traffic.

We can discuss this option and whether it would benefit your property during the Pre-Clean Inspection / Heritage Floor Care Survey.

Step 8: Accelerated Drying

We can accelerate the drying time of carpets after Hot Water Extraction Carpet Cleaning by installing carpet drying fans or (Air Movers). We can also utilise inhouse heating or Air Conditioning systems if necessary and advise you on how to best ventilate after cleaning.

Our Very Low Moisture Encapsulation Carpet Cleaning systems also accelerate the drying time by requiring a very small total amount of liquid. Encapsulation Carpet Cleaning uses a cleaning product that is brushed or (Agitated) into the carpet fibres after vacuuming. It dissolves the soiling and as it drys (for usually 30 mins to an hour), it crystallises and encapsulates the soiling into a fine powder
that is then removed by dry vacuuming. It is very effective for greasy stains and high traffic commercial areas requiring rapid drying.

Our Dry-Fusion Carpet Cleaning system Cleans, Deodorises, Stain Guards and Drys your carpet within 30 mins by using an eco-friendly pre-spray and multiple absorbent pads to agitate the carpet. They absorb soiling, and the onboard heater blows hot air down through the pad, drying as it cleans and heat bonding the stain guard.

Dry-Fusion has utility in both Commercial and Residential Carpet Cleaning and is particularly effective on carpet tiles. We will discuss which one of our Carpet Cleaning Systems is best for your
situation during the Site Survey.

This 8-step program is our most comprehensive methodology for Carpet Cleaning to date. We are always looking for little improvements and continually researching and
developing our processes.
